At Home Teeth Whitening

Everyone wants a Bright shiny smile. But most of us don't have the money to pay a Boston implant dentist to get new teeth. So what can we do with our natural teeth to make them look better without having to shell out large amounts of cash. Here are a few things recommended by dentists to help your teeth get whiter and stay whiter.

Strawberries

Surprised to see strawberries here? So was I. But apparently they contain a good amount of malic acid which is found in a lot of tooth whitening toothpastes. To make this fruit do work for you, cut or mash it up and let it sit on your teeth for a full minute. Then you can eat the rest and rinse with water.

Lemon Juice

It is common knowledge that lemon juice can lighten hair but apparently it also works for teeth. To use this method, rinse with diluted half water half juice mixture. It is also important to note that you should only do this once or twice a week. The acid in the juice can damage teeth if they are overexposed.

Baking Soda

Tooth paste has had baking soda in it for as long as I can remember. Using baking soda has a double advantage, it works as an abrasive but it also helps neutralize acid and remove stains from tooth enamel. If your tooth paste doesn't have baking soda you can sprinkle it on top. You can also brush with just plain baking soda once or twice a month for added benefit.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Although you don't want to drink this stuff, it is perfectly fine to use it as a mouthwash. Not only does the peroxide help whiten your teeth but it also kills bacteria and freshens your breath. All you need to do is mix a tablespoon of water and a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide and rinse for a full minute. Let it sit for another minute and then rinse.

Whitening Strips

You can find these strips in any drugstore or supermarket around the country. There are numerous brands that each have a product. Each one is a little different as far as what you can do with it, how you have to keep it on your teeth, and how well it whitens. The only way to really determine which product works best for you is to try one.

Trays

Of all these methods, whitening trays are the most effective. They provide quick and lasting results. There are generic versions that you can buy in the store but your best option is to find some Boston dentists and get yourself a custom fitted kit. With a trained professional involved you won't have to worry about overdoing it and damaging your teeth. They will be able to tell you exactly what you need to do to get the results that you want.
