Kuala Lumpur, September 1, 2015 – Shell Advance, the leading motorcycle engine oil brand in Malaysia, has launched its flagship product, Shell Advance Ultra with PurePlus Technology, in limited edition packs in conjunction with the upcoming 2015 Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix.

These limited edition packs come in different collectible designs. The Shell Advance Ultra 10W-40 features the Malaysian Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup riders and also Malaysian Moto3 rider Zulfahmi Khairuddin while the 15W-50 features the Ducati Corse MotoGP team.

Both fully synthetic motorcycle engine oils retail at RM68.30 for a one-litre pack.

Shell PurePlus Technology is a revolutionary gas-to-liquid (GTL) process that converts natural gas into crystal-clear base oil with virtually none of the impurities found in crude oil. GTL base oil delivers higher levels of cleansing and superior wear and corrosion protection. As a result, Shell Advance Ultra with PurePlus Technology is able to offer a clean start and deliver more power every time.

Speaking at the launch, Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd Managing Director Tuan Haji Azman bin Ismail said that the limited edition packs reflected the premium positioning of Shell Advance Ultra with PurePlus Technology and reinforced the brand’s strong association with world motorcycle racing.

“Shell Advance Ultra with PurePlus Technology is the only motorcycle engine oil in the market that is made from natural gas.  It is a result of our long involvement in motorsport that has enabled us to transfer cutting-edge lubrication technology developed for race tracks to products for everyday use on the road,” he said.

Shell’s Technical Partnership with Ducati which started in 1999 with the World Superbike Championship, was extended to include the MotoGP™ championship in 2003.  In 2014, Shell Advance signed a three-year deal to become the title sponsor of the Asia Talent Cup.

Shell has also renewed its title sponsorship of the Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix, having reached an agreement with Dorna Sports, the MotoGP™ rights holder, to support the FIM MotoGP™ World Championship and the Sepang International Circuit’s hosting of the Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix for the 2015 and 2016 championship seasons.

The title sponsorship of the Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix is especially important. It provides Shell with an opportunity to further strengthen its long-standing presence in MotoGP™ and showcase products including Shell Advance Ultra (lubricant) and Shell V-Power (fuel) that are at the forefront of competitive innovation in world championship motorcycle racing. It also provides the ideal platform to engage further with motorcyclists within the Asia region and the world over.

Tuan Haji Azman also expressed delight with the opportunity for Shell Advance to be involved in the development of young riding talents from Asia through SAATC.

“We are proud that five young Malaysians – Adam Norrodin, Azroy Anuar, Fakhrusy Rostam, Helmi Azman and Shafiq Rasol -- are competing in this season’s SAATC.  We hope that the new limited edition Shell Advance Ultra with PurePlus Technology packs which feature their images will give them more widespread exposure and generate more support from Malaysians,” he said.
